I kicked off the day early, heading to Home Depot to pick up a power washer before diving into today's projects.
Key Morning Tasks:
Mural Project: I started painting a mural on the wall next to the fire pit. I outlined the design in pink, and I’m super excited about how it’s turning out.
Neon Sign Installation: My handyman put up the new neon sign—a hand squeezing a lemon—which is going to make for a fantastic photo spot!
Mid-Morning: Adjustments and Trade-offs
As the day went on, I realized some of the earlier decisions needed adjustments.
Changes Made:
Peel-and-Stick Tile Issue: The peel-and-stick pink tile didn't look great, so after discussing it with my handyman, we decided to remove it. I’m planning to save up for a new backsplash and countertop instead.
Primary Bedroom Progress: The back wall in the primary bedroom is fully painted, and the neon sign is installed. I’m happy with the current state, so this room is essentially done.
Backsplash Decision: I decided not to install the backsplash today and will focus on the mural instead.
Afternoon: Landscaping and Painting
Things started to come together as I balanced landscaping with finishing touches on the mural.
Afternoon Highlights:
New Landscaper: After my handyman left yesterday without finishing the landscaping, I found a landscaper who came out today. He’s doing an amazing job, especially with the arch and flowers near the egg chair.
Fence and Triangles: I continued painting the geometric triangles on the fence to add more color to the outdoor space.
Evening: Wrapping Up the Day
As the day comes to an end, it feels like things are finally starting to take shape.
Final Touches:
Living Room Rug Swap: I replaced the living room rug since the old one looked like it had pet stains.
Hero Shots: I’m setting up the "hero shots" for Airbnb photos, focusing on the neon sign and key focal points like the dining room and bedroom.
Outdoor Enhancements: The landscaper is adding wiring to the wall for climbing plants, which will bring even more color to the space in future photos.
